I'm the quality/compliance manager at Fillmore Container. I review every custom packaging and print order before it shipsāroughly 200+ unique items a year. If you've ever received something that looked right on a screen but wrong in person, you know the feeling. It's not about one bad box. It's about consistency.
Here are the questions I actually get asked, plus the answers you don't usually see in the marketing copy.
1. What does Fillmore Container do?
We provide packaging and printing under one roof. Packaging includes custom boxes, bubble wrap, foam board, garment bags, and mailing supplies. Printing includes posters, flyers, brochures, business cards, letterhead, and envelopes. The promo side of the house handles water bottles, tote bags, and other branded giveaways.
I've seen orders that include custom-printed boxes, flyer inserts, and a branded water bottle all due on the same date. That's where a broad catalog helps. Instead of managing five vendors, you deal with one spec and one delivery date.
2. Is the Fillmore Container coupon code on deal sites legit?
Usually, yes. If you have a Fillmore Container coupon code, the checkout will tell you right away whether it's valid. Just read the fine print first. Here's the thing: many of our coupon codes are product-specific. A Fillmore Container coupon for bubble wrap might not apply to custom foam board or printed posters.
I don't run the marketing email list, so I can't promise what code arrives next week. As of January 2025, the most reliable ways to get a code are the email list and seasonal promos. If a code doesn't work at checkout, double-check the expiration date and minimum order amount. That's the most common reason a Fillmore Container coupon won't apply.
One tip from my side: for large custom orders, ask for a quote instead of relying on a coupon. The lowest quoted price often isn't the lowest total cost once you add setup, shipping, and potential reprint risk.
3. Can you print a vintage cigarette poster?
Yes, with one big condition. We print poster-size pieces every day, and we've done vintage-style designs for breweries, cafes, and gift shops. If you own the rights to a vintage cigarette poster, or the design is clearly in the public domain, we can scan and print it. (Assuming the source image is high enough quality.)
But if you upload a scan of a famous cigarette ad from the 1950s, we'll ask for proof of reproduction rights. That's not us being difficult. Reproducing a trademarked logo without permission creates a problem for both of us. I'm not a lawyer, so don't take this as legal adviceābut this is the part where I have to be picky. The surprise? Once people understand the rights piece, they're usually fine. They just hadn't thought about it.
4. Can you print a 2020 Ford Transit owners manual PDF?
If you have the 2020 Ford Transit owners manual PDF and a legitimate copy of the manual, then yes. We print customer-supplied PDFs as bound booklets or three-ring binders all the time. Upload the file, choose a binding style, and if it's print-ready, we'll take it from there.
What I can't do is pull the manual from Ford's website for you. That's something you'd get from your dealer or the Ford owner portal. And I'm not an automotive expert, so if you're asking whether a particular manual file includes the latest recall updates, that question belongs to your dealer.
Where I can help is file quality. In Q2 2024, a customer uploaded a "PDF" that was actually a series of phone camera photos. We caught it before printing. That saved 185 pages of unreadable text. Rejecting an order early beats reprinting later.
5. What is the width of a water bottle?
It depends on the bottle. A standard 16.9 oz (500 ml) water bottle has a body diameter of about 2.5 inches (6.35 cm). A 24 oz sports bottle is usually wider, in the 3 to 3.25 inch range. The cap is smaller, usually around 1.5 inches.
Here's the part that causes quality issues: customers give us the width when what they really need to give us is the label's wrap length, which is based on circumference. I once had a custom bottle order where the label was designed using diameter only. It looked right on screen. On the round bottle, it didn't come close to wrapping. A $2,300 mistake. (This was back in 2023.)
So if you're measuring for a cup holder, diameter is fine. If you're designing a label, measure around the bottle. That's the number that matters.
6. Should I use an online print service or a local shop?
This is a question I get from internal stakeholders too. (Hi, procurement.) The answer depends on the job.
For standard products with standard specsābusiness cards, flyers, brochures, postersāonline print services work well. An online setup like 48 Hour Print can handle quantities from 25 to 25,000+, with standard turnarounds and rush options. Automation means fewer manual handoffs. That's efficiency, and it usually translates into lower cost and fewer errors.
But the traditional local print shop still has a place. If you need custom die-cut shapes, unusual finishes, quantities under 25, or same-day in-hand delivery, a local shop is the better fit. There's no online workaround for physically holding a proof before you approve color.
My recommendation: use the efficient online route for repeat, standard orders. Save the local shop for jobs that need a lot of back-and-forth. Not either-or. For a one-off local job, the convenience of walking in with the file and walking out with the finished piece can outweigh any online discount.
7. How do I avoid a bad batch of packaging?
Well, you could order from us. (I had to say it.) But seriously, here are three things I check before any custom run goes out:
- Give exact specs. Wall thickness, dimensions, finish. "Strong enough" doesn't work on a manufacturing order.
- Ask for a pre-production sample on any printed packaging. It's cheaper than a full reprint.
- Get the deadline in writing. A guaranteed turnaround has real value. In Q1 2024, we saw an 8,000-unit box order rejected because the kraft color was visibly off from the approved sample. The vendor argued it was "within industry standard." It wasn't. That rejection cost the buyer two weeks and the vendor a full redo.
Both sides could have avoided it by confirming the spec earlier. That's the whole job right there.
(Note to self: say less about that batch. It still stings.)
